‘In the short video The Moving House by Stephanie Rhode we see an abstracted form of a house moving through a landscape. The fabric printed with colourful patterns that spans the house contrasts sharply with the desert landscape where the video was shot. It is a Peruvian landscape, where Rhode filmed when she was away from home for a long time in 2019 during an artist-in-residence period in Lima, the capital of Peru. The house is a recurring element in Rhode’s oeuvre and represents inner peace and a sense of security. The Moving House symbolises the idea that you always carry your home with you, no matter where in the world you are.’

De met kleurrijke patronen bedrukte stof die het huis omspant, contrasteert sterk met het woestijnlandschap waar de opnames gemaakt zijn. Het betreft een Peruaans landschap, waar Rhode filmde toen ze in 2019 langdurig van huis was tijdens een artist-in-residence periode in Lima, de Peruaanse hoofdstad. Het huis is een terugkerend element in het oeuvre van Rhode en representeert innerlijke rust en geborgenheid. The Moving House staat symbool voor het idee dat je je huis altijd met je meedraagt, waar ter wereld je ook bent.’
